Otonabee Wolves Bantam LEO win the Shane O'Brien Tourney
After winning the A championship in the Campbellford tourney on Saturday, the Bantam Wolves went right back to work on Sunday, beating St isidore 3-2 in our first game and the Northumberland Hawks One 4-1 for our 2nd win of the day.
On day two, we won our first game of the day 6-5, with Dylan scoring to win it with less than a second left in the game. This after being up 5-2 in the third. Definitely a nail biter.
These three straight round robin wins earned the Wolves a birth in the A final against a very good Brockville Braves team. We figured we were in tough after watching Brockville decimate every opponent they faced.
But the Keene town boys came out strong with an early go ahead goal by Liam setting the tone. Nathan T followed that up late in the 2nd to put us up 2-0. The boys then played a game of keep away, permitting Brockville to have the puck, but only occasionally. Brockville worked hard, but we worked even harder to keep the lead after Brockville got a late goal to bring them within one. Final score was 2-1 with the Wolves earning the A Championship title with the win.
All in all, a great weekend for the Bantam Wolves, who ended the two tournaments with a 7-0 record and two gold medals.
