Apsley Tournament Results
The boys from Keene traveled up 28 to take on all-comers at the Apsley tournament this past Saturday.

This hard working squad forged a 2-1 record on the day, hustling and playing together as a team.

We deserved a better fate after outplaying our first opponent, but going down in flames in the shootout after we let them tie us with just over two minutes left.

Game 1 - Shootout Loss
Clarington Stingers 4
Otonabee Wolves 3

The boys from Keene totally dominated this game from the opening whistle, going up 3-0 before the game was 12 minutes in. Clarington fought back within a goal before the 2nd ended and then tied the game after some shoddy defensive play in our own zone with 2 minutes left in the third.

3 on 3 OT decided nothing and the game went to a shoot-out. Otonabee was outscored in the shoot-out to take the loss. In OT, we had the majority of chances, but couldn't convert, shooting over the net on one 2-0 breakaway.

Scoring for Otonabee was Nate Dog, James and Carter. James picked up the only assist. Maximum effort by all in this game. A sign of things to come.

Game 2

In game two, the boys in black took on the Stars from Napanee and came out on top 3-2. Boys came out hard this game and though the score was close the outcome was never in doubt. Marcus played especially well in goal.

James, Carter and Sebastian scored for the Keene squad, with Joshua picking up 2 assists and Liam R. and Nate Dog each with one helper.

Game 3 vs Clarington Kings

In the game 3 final, our boys got off to a quick start, scoring just over 4 minutes into the game and then adding another 14 seconds later. Before the 1st was over, they had staked themselves to a 3 goal lead.

The Kings countered with one in the 2nd and we headed into the third up 3-1.

The Wolves scored another a minute into the third to go up 4-1. Each team traded goals after that, with James scoring our 5th into an empty net.

Effort was there for all three games and the coaches were especially encouraged by everyone's play during the day.

The D unit was solid and the forwards chipped in with timely scoring.

Best part was everyone back-checking throughout all three games like nobody's business.

Scoring in this game was James with two, Nate Dog, Samuel and Liam P. Picking up helpers was Nate Dog with two, Keegan, Liam P, Linc, Joshua and James.

Marcus, Jack, Colton, Nate Dog, Joshua, Carter, Samuel, Liam P., Simon, James, Liam R., Linc, Sebastian & Keegan all had a very strong tournament. No passengers for this tourney!

And thanks to all the parents who came out to cheer us on and who also supplied the kids with gatorade, rice crispy squares, brownies, banana bread, clementines and snacks all day long. Much appreciated. And made the drive to Apsley worth it.

Should also mention that it was a well run tournament, with the teams equally balanced.

Now we need to get ready for Havelock next week.
